Lonely Planet, and also by numerous Western backpackers who visited
the jewel of Yunnan - Old Town of Lijiang. Perfect mix of
traditional Naxi and European food (pizza, salads, pasta...) and
cold beer. Atmosphere here is non-Chinese, but mostly Naxi with
taste of Old Good Europe.
The food here is very good and
fairly reasonably priced (given the touristy area it is in), but
the drinks are relatively expensive, especially tee.
The world famous Old Town of
Lijiang, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in Lijiang City.
The Lijiang has a history going back more than 800 years and was
once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road. The Old
Town of Lijiang is famous for its orderly system of waterways and
bridges. The Old Town of Lijiang differs from other ancient Chinese
cities in architecture, history and the culture of its traditional
residents the Naxi people.
