15 Ton Anchor from Essex Class Aircraft Carrier USS Randolph CV-CVA-CVS 15
Commissioned Oct. 9 1944 - Decommissioned 1969
Served with distinction in Pacific during World War II survived kamikazi hit at Ulithi. Later joined fleets in Atlantic and Mediterranean. Played a part role in America's early space program recovering Astronaut Gus Grissom from Mercury Space Capsule. Returned John Glenn - First American to orbit Earth - to Grand Turk Island for his medical exam.

Located in front of Sullivan South High School which is in the north Kingsport, TN area.
