The inscription at the top of the monument says "In Memory of the Men and Women of This Community Who Served Their Country in World War II".

This monument is a small, simple granite block dedicated to area veterans who served in World War 2.

It is located in a small city park on main street and has two benches and an American flag nearby.

Other than a list of the veterans on the stone, no information such as dedication date is listed.

Located only a few miles east of Brookings, South Dakota, Aurora is a small bedroom community with a population of 471 as of July 2008. This is a 6% decrease from the 2000 census.

People who settled this town were made up of German, Norwegian, Irish, Dutch, and Swedish ancestries.
