The Vernon Army Camp was built in the 1930's and has trained military personel every year since. It is still used for cadet training throughout the summer and by other military and law inforcement groups year round. Over the years a large portion of the grounds have been converted to sports fields used by the public and military. Two soccer pitches and 8 ball diamonds are amongst the many buildings that are scattered about the army camp property.
