"Memorial to the Six Million" is a Holocaust Memorial. On a field of gravel, some two-dozen cement slabs bear the names of concentration camps, ghettos, and massacre sites where victims of the Holocaust perished. Standing watch over them are six stark wooden sculptures, completed in 1966 by noted California artist Bernard Zakheim (1896 - 1985). The eternal flame at the center of the memorial stands for the rebirth of Israel from the ashes of the World War II era. At night it could be seen from two miles away, when the rest of the hillside is bathed in darkness.
