The US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, Queens, is one of the premier sporting events in the world. Along with the neighboring Mets at Shea Stadium, the US Open puts Queens on the sports map. The two-week tournament is held every August and September at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Players compete in Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Singles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. CBS, USA Network, and many international broadcasters will carry the action live as 2008 winner Roger Federer returns to defend his crowns. Women's champ from 2008, Serena Williams, will be back in action at Flushing Meadows this year.
Tennis matches occur during the day (11 a.m.) and at night (7 p.m.) on most days of the tournament, and are held in several venues within the grounds of the USTA National Tennis Center.See the page
