South of the Border is, of course, one of the places every traveler must stop at least once while wandering around the country. The Sombrero Tower is the tallest of the structures in this neonoplis which sits at the North/south Carolina border and can be easily seen from the Interstare (of course). It towers over t-shirt shops, lodging, restaurants, ice cream, and other neon-bathed structures.
Visitors can ride to the top of the tower via a glass elevator. From the 'rim' of the 'hat' one can look out over the shops to the trees and fields beyond.
Before heading back to your vehicle to continue on - don't forget your magnet/glass/bumper sticker !
