On Eastern Avenue, in the town of Dedham, is the VFW Hall, Post 2017, U.S.S. Jacob Jones. The building is located at 84 Eastern Avenue, about 1/2 mile from the center of Dedham, and is on the other side of the Providence Highway from the center, between the building that currently has a Staples store in it, and a large ball field area. The post is also opposite an access road to B.Js.

I found no web site for Post 2017. I did find a blog that is of a person identified as being from the post, and the blog post things of interest to veterans, however, very little, if any is about the local post.

I know that the place does get rented out, but I don't have details.

The U.S.S. Jacob Jones refers to one of three destroyers that had that name, which is the name of Commodore Jacob Jones, who served in the Quasi-War with France, the Barabary Wars and the War of 1812.

Note: As I was taking pictures of the front entrance, a man opened the door and asked if I was in need of something. I explained that I was taking pictures of the hall and was about to explain about 'waymarking,' when he said, 'fine' and shut the door (in a nice way). Oh, well.
