About 2 miles south of the Headwaters, Of the 70 miles long Swatara Creek are the Swatara Falls;Horsetail type with 25+ft of vertical drop! The highest waterfalls in southern Pennsylvania.

An excerpt from Geocache "SWATARA FALLS-GCFC95- "By far the most important stream in the western end of SCHUYLKILL County is the Swatara!" 70 miles long from 2 miles north of the same name waterfalls to Middletown,Pa. onto the Susquahanna River.It's drainage area is 567 Sq. miles.From the head waters to the little Swatara a distance of 16 miles it drops,360 feet- the remaining 54 miles to the Susquahanna it only drops 234ft!!! In the first two(2) miles of it's coarse to SWATARA FALLS it drops 360ft. Then after the falls is the steepest section of 300ft drop to Pa.St.Rt.209 of 300ft in a 1/2 mile!
This is a Horsetail type falls,And somewhere on the rocks is a carving of a date from the 1700's and the carvers name!!!!!!
