York's Municipal Building was built by First Federal Savings and Loan of York as their headquarters. After the "Savings & Loan" collapse of the 1980's, the City of York purchased the building and remodeled it.

The lobby area became the City Council Chambers; the drive-up teller window area is the City Water & Sewer utility office. That office space is shared by Nebraska Public Power District, so local customers can take care of water, sewer and electric utility bills and accounts at one stop.
