LEST WE FORGETDescription:
Soldier standing with both arms at his torso. He originally held a rifle, now missing, broken off by an errant golf ball. The soldier's proper left leg is extended forward. He is dressed in military uniform.
The movement to erect the monument grew out of a suggestion from the local Women's Relief Corps and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic. The sculpture was made possible by local subscription at a cost of $1,620. The pedestal was furnished by the city at a cost of $105.
