Horshoe Meadow Trailhead is one of the main trailheads for access to the backcountry. The Golden Trout Wilderness, and the Southern John Muir Wilderness are easily accessed from this point, as well as Seqouia National Park. It is a popular alternative to the very crowded Whitney Portal Trailhead, and offers access to the 200+ mile John Muir Trail as well as a section of the Pacific Crest Trail.

Bear Boxes as well as restroom facilities are available at this location. In addition, a walk in campground and a very well appointed equestrian camping area are nearby.
