SAMUEL BACOT 1745 - 1795. He was a Lieutenant with Francis Marion's South Carolina Rangers; taken prisoner at Charleston, S. C., 12th May, 1780, but shortly after escaped.

SAMUEL BACOT 1745 - 1795

Early land records indicate that Samuel Bacot settled in the back country of South Carolina about 1770. He served in the State Militia during the Revolution, was taken prisoner by the British in 1780, but with his companions made his excape, avoiding confinement in a Charles Town prison. His grave is one half mile northeast.
