E.P.A. lists included former Manufactured Gas Plant sites, because of the potential for carcinogenic compounds that were by-products of gas manufacture. This solid brick structure was the "town gas" plant for York, Nebraska.

The site is on the "archived" list; the building has been renovated and is currently used as a private club by a local businessman.
