The New Kent Winery is a 17,000 square foot facility that is equipped with modern wine making equipment and building materials that are recycled, and, in some instance, over 100 years old. Inside, the pine trusses were recovered from a railroad depot in downtown Richmond; the Heart Pine timbers are from a Connecticut warehouse dating back to the 1850's. Outside, the bricks are from the pre-civil war era, and the siding and shingles were made from logs that were submerged in Florida rivers for over 100 years.
The tour of the winery and wine tasting together costs $7. On the tour, one will learn all the details regarding the construction of the winery, discover where the materials came from, and see the production and storage area. The wine tasting room can accommodate about 20 people and offers a view of the adjacent vineyards.
