Featured in 'Florida Curiosities' (http://books.google.com/books?id=feIk1skAQxIC&printsec=frontcover&dq=florida+curiosities#v=onepage&q=&f=false) and mentioned in several local tourism/commercial brochures. When we ask others if they have been to Monkey Island they give us a puzzled look. They have all bee to the Homosassa/Crystal River area, but none have seen the monkeys.
According to the books' telling, about 60 years ago a wildlife attraction, operated by Bruce Norris, was purchased by the state. He released several Ringtail Monkeys on this island and built them a homestead. Having it made with their meals delivered to them they continue to thrive with the occasional immigrant.

Now that you are there, take a picture, any picture. You in front of the island, the nose of your boat in front of the island, your friend in front of the island, some randome person in front of the island, the island itself, the monkeys on the island. (note, the location must be plainly visible in pictures)
AND
tell me what does the RED SIGN say? do not post any pictures where this is plainly readable (photoshop it out if you must).
