Bluestone Dam is a straight concrete gravity Dam that is 2048 feet long and approximately 165 feet above the streambed.
This Dam project began in 1941, was operational by 1949 and completed in 1952.
Bluestone Dam and Lake attract over 1.3 million visitors annually.
Bluestone Dam and Lake are easily accessible from I-77 and I-64. Take exit 14 (Athens Road) off I-77 to Route 20 N, approximately 25 miles to Bluestone Dam. Take exit 139 (Sandstone/Hinton) off I-64 to Route 20 S, approximately 12 miles to Bluestone Dam. The dam is located at Hinton, WV.
