Fred H. Ramsey died Jan 2 1895 aged 70 yrs Pioneer of 1844. His grave is located among blackberry bushes, ivy and weeds along a busy N Columbia Blvd. in the St. Johns section of Portland. It is best to park across the road at St. Johns Substation just to the north of the traffic light.

After emigrating west in 1844, Ramsey joined others settling the Peninsula such as James John (founder of St. Johns), James Loomis, Dr. William Caples, Daniel S. Southmayd, Sr., William Gatton, James Bybee, Cuthbert Stump, Sr., Captain John Ward (Waud), and Henry Much (Mock).
