Site of Park Avenue School
1916-1989
Built on what was once the first fairway of Winter Park's first golf course, Park Avenue Elementary school opened with 10 classrooms and an auditorium, eight teachers, and 150 students in 11 grades. A cafateria and additional classrooms were adden in 1926.
Rollins College purchsed the property in 1961 to house its Continuing Education Program. The building was used for offices and classrooms until 1988.
These bricks from the original school building pay tribute to the education that generations of students recieved on this site, and to the dedicated faculty and staff who inspired them.
