From the description plate;
On 4 Oct 31, 07:01 a.m., two American aviators, Mr. Clyde E. Pangborn and Mr. Hugh Herndon Jr. took off from coast of Sabishiro on a 425 hp Belanca airplane, "Miss Veedol", painted in red, heading for Salt Lake City, Utah. Flying a total distance of 8,000km (about 5,000miles) on a non stop, trans Pacific flight. Two days later, they landed at Wenatchee Airport, east of Seattle, Washington Stateon 6 Oct 31, 10:11 a.m., marking a historical record, succeeding in the first non stop, trans Pacific flight. Flying the distance of 7,847km, 41hrs and 10mins. The average speed was 192km/h/
Of course there were several attempts made prior to Miss Veedol's success. "Tacoma" flown by Mr. Bromley and Mr. Getty failed with a crash. "Pacific" was flown by Mr. Ashe, Mr. Allen and Mr. Moyle all failed in "Clasina Madge." A Japanese Naval officer Commander Kiyoshi Honma attempted in "Hochi Nichi Bei III", but crashed into Chishima Water and has been missing. All of these attempts on the non stop trans Pacific flight were made from "Misawa village Sabishiro beach".
