The flag is blue and white diagonally divided. It seems to have been around since the 13th century at least, but it is not documented exactly before 1389 as a coat of arms and 1434 as flag.

The colors are sometimes said to represent either lake and sky or snowy mountains or the like, but this is not proven at all.
