This bell is located on the grounds of the Maxton Museum, housed in the former law offices of Gilbert Patterson. "This bell was on the last engine operating on the the Maxton, Alma, Southbound Railroad. It was donated to the museum by C.A. "Gus" Hasty through John C. "Pete" Hasty." Mounted on a wooden pole on the front lawn, it is a reminder of days gone by when you could set your watch by the train whistle as it approached town.
