This park is dedicated to Peter B. English in honor of his many years of service to the Unitied States Corps of Engineers and to the
City of Owensboro. Through his tireless efforts, the land for this park became a reality. An avid sportsman, historian and civic leader, he has served his city well. He served as the Chairman of the Owensboro Riverport Authority.

This park was made possible in the year 1975 for the citizens of Ownesboro and Daviess County by the gift of this land from the United
States Corps of Engineers, and grateful appreciation is expressed to the Corps and men who have served as Lockmasters: John W. Stolzy, 1929~1935; Tony Rouse, 1936~1957; Peter B. English, 1957~1973
