The current home of the Lake County Civic Center Association's Heritage museum was a Carnegie Library, in serving as a public library until 1971. It was named for Andrew Carnegie, whose donation made the opening possible.
Today the Carnegie Library building houses a museum, dedicated to preserving the history of Leadville. Exhibits include period, Victorian furniture from the Boom Days, mining artifacts, Camp Hale mementos and a model replica of the Leadville Ice Palace. The Leadville Ice Palace, built in the winter of 1895-96, was the largest ice palace in the world.
The museum is open May through October.
