139 RC 1953 - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This USGS Bench Mark is located in a small clearing on the east side of McCormick Lake Road, approximately 150 yards south of the entrance to the Michigan DNR's public access site at McCormick Lake.

Access to the site may be gained from State Highway M-32 by turning onto McCormick Lake Road in the hamlet of Bigelow and traveling 2 miles southeast.

The disk is mounted in the top of a cement post about 3 inches above grade level. An orange witness post is located immediately east of the mark and is clearly visible from the road.

Note: the coordinates in the photo of my GPS show a reading of N 44° 57.355, W 084° 15.375. The "official" coordinates for the Bench Mark are an average of 50 readings taken by my GPS at the time of marking.
