Louisville's Cherokee Park is so big and popular with two-legged visitors, it's only fair that our four-legged friends should have their very own corner of the park.

This two-acre dog park was opened in Cherokee Park, Louisville, in 2007. It is divided into two areas, so the big dogs and the little dogs can have their own separate areas. Although signposted "Cherokee Dog Run", it is also known as the "Cochran Hill Dog Run".

Permits are required. Applications for permits, as well as rules for use of the park, can be seen at (visit link) Of course, dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccinations.

Parking is available at the park. The park is on Cochran Hill Road, very close to the Lexington Road entrance to Cherokee Park.

Don't be confused by the GPS coordinates. This dog park is not ON Interstate 64. It is actually on top of Cochran Hill, through which Interstate 64 tunnels.
