In 1663, the City office bought a house located on the square, next to the Lower City gate. Prior to the purchase, Magistrate's members' meetings took place in the individual members' homes. In the first half of the 16th century, meetings were held at this building, which, didn’d suit the needs of the Magistrate. It was a New Renaissance style building with a small corner tower and was used as late as to the 1930s by the City. Due to the condition of the building however in 1934, it was demolished and a new building designed by V.Sebor, was constructed in its place. In order to comply with historic architecture of the square, the new City Hall was no higher than the surrounding buildings. The facade and pillar construction of the entrance visually combines the historic tradition of the surrounding buildings with the functionality of the building. Today, the building still houses the City office.

V snahe zaradit stavbu do historickej architektúry námestia, nová radnica nepresiahla výškovo okolitú zástavbu. Fasáda so stlpovým riešením vstupu vyjadruje snahu o vizuálne sklbenie funkcionalistického názoru s historickou tradíciou okolitých objektov. I dnes je sídlom mestského úradu.
