A nice headland trig point on a carin of stones. Also the location for a geocache, GC13H9G - "Harrington Trig Station". There is a road right up to the top of the hill to a carpark with scenic views and a Lions Club display. There is also a small cemetary here.

From the plaque:
"Harrington, discovered by John Oxley in October 1818.

Harrington came into being as a service village for the pilot station which was on this site.

The earliest form of trade to this area was by sailing ship. Cargoes of cedar, maize, farm produce and livestock were exchanged for food and equipment needed by the early settlers.

In 1894 a contract for the construction of the breakwater was signed. Prior to this the sea broke at the foot of the pilot hill which was knows as the "painted rocks"

The rock for the wall was quarried at Crowdy and transported by rail, the largest stone weighing approximately 16 tons.

Numerous ships were wrecked on the bar including the Fire King and Coomba in 1877, Kincumber in 1908, Burrawong in 1909 whose bell is used in the Uniting church.

In 1910 the Minimbah on her maiden voyage hit the wall and broke in two. The last vessel to hit the wall was the Melinga in 1941."
