Brandt is a very small town in Deuel County, South Dakota, with a population of 103, as of July 2008. This reflects a 9% decrease in population since the 2000 census.

The town was incorporated on December 23, 1880, and its population is made up of German, Norwegian, French, Dutch, and Scottish ancestries.

It was named for Rev. P.O. Brandt.

As with many small towns, it is difficult to maintain the school system when population continues to decline. Brandt was never a very big town and so it school closed several years ago.

SD Highway 15 is the closest main road, and I-90 is about 10 miles west of town. The biggest city nearby is Sioux Falls, about 70 miles away.

The fire department is made up of local volunteers who are not paid, but have a loyal community spirit.
