DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1908 (WBF) ON THE MAINLAND SHORE OF BOCA CIEGA BAY AT THE EXTREMITY OF TURTLE CRAWL POINT ON FIRM GROUND AMONG THE PALMETTOS AND SMALL BUSHES 60 METERS FROM HIGH-WATER MARK. THE SURFACE MARK IS A 4-INCH TILE FLLED WITH CONCRETE WITH A SPIKE IN THE CENTER OF THE TOP, SET FLANGE DOWN IN A MASS OF CONCRETE ABOUT 20 INCHES SQUARE (OR 20 INCHES IN DIAMETER) AND ABOUT 2 FEET DEEP, WITH THE TOP PROJECTING A FEW INCHES ABOVE THE SURFACE. ON THE SURFACE OF THE CONCRETE IS INSCRIBED C. AND G. S., WITH THE YEAR IN WHICH THE MARK WAS SET. THE UNDERGROUND MARK IS A CONCRETE POST 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND 2-1/2 FEET LONG WITH A SPIKE IN THE CENTER OF THE TOP, SET 2 OR 3 FEET BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1926 (RLS) RECOVERED THE LOCATION OF THE STATION, BUT MARK HAD RECENTLY BEEN DUG UP AND TAKEN OUT THE HOLE AND ROLLED SOME 10 METERS AWAY. THE HOLE REMAINED AND IT WAS ASSUMED THAT THE DEEPEST PART THEREOF, WHICH WAS THE APPROXIMATE CENTER WAS THE CENTER OF THE STATION. A NEW MARK WAS ESTABLISHED IN THIS HOLE. COMPUTED AND USED AS TURTLE 2. A REFERENCE MARK WAS ESTABLISHED N 16 DEG W AT A DISTANCE OF 12.31 METERS. IT CONSISTS OF A CONCRETE POST 12 INCHES SQUARE AND 30 INCHES LONG WITH STANDARD DISK IN CENTER.
