In their new expanded quarters, the Scotland County Habitat Restore is a bargain hunters paradise. Proceeds of the sales help finance new home for those that might not otherwise be able to own a new dwelling.

The a group of concerned local citizens first met in 1991 to explore the feasibility of forming a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. By the Spring of 1992 the chapter was chartered. With the City of Laurinburg's donation of reclaimed lots in the North Laurinburg area, the chapter was ready to build its first dwelling for prospective new home owner. In 1995, the group opened its first Restore in the downtown Laurinburg business district. In the past year, the Scotland County Habitat has moved into a new store in south Laurinburg. The new store has more room for shelving and displays for the wares on sell. They carry most any household item you could need. For instance, in the holiday decorations area, I found some St Paddy's Day Irish Good Luck Tokens I bought to use in trading at my geocache finds. Some of the latest books are on the shelves waiting to be read by another reader. Furniture for any room in the house abounds. Antiques and nearly new items can be found readily at this store.
