Long Description:
This is one of many granite posts used to mark the "corner" points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the Town of Topsfield and the Town of Wenham. The letters "T" (for Topsfield) and "W" (for Wenham) are inscribed on opposite sides. It is approximately eight inches square and three feet high.
This is one of four survey markers located in the "http://www.massaudubon.org/Nature_Connection/Sanctuaries/Ipswich_River/index.php">Massachusetts Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. The marker is located on Perkins Island in the Ipswich River (accessable only by water). It is at the canoe landing about 100 yards west of the main camping landing. About 20 feet west of the marker there is a stone wall running southwest, starting at the water's edge. There is a large tree at the water's edge and about five feet from the marker. It tends to block sight of the marker as you approach the landing.
The nearest adjacent survey markers are "http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM6YA7">Topsfield-Wenham 2 (T-W2), about 0.1 mile southwest, and "http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM6YDQ">Hamilton-Topsfield-Wenham WM (H-T-W WM), about a half mile down stream.
