Long Description:This is one of many granite posts used to mark the "corner" points
on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case,
the Town of Topsfield and the Town of Wenham. It is approximately
eight inches square and three feet high. There is a boulder about
15 inches in diameter directly adjacent to the square post. The
letters "T" (for Topsfield) and "W" (for Wenham) are inscribed on
opposite sides of the boulder.
This is one of four survey markers located in the
Massachusetts Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. This
marker is located on Perkins Island in the Ipswich River
(accessable only by water). From the canoe landing about 100 yards
west of the main camping landing, follow the stone wall southwest
through the forest for about 150 yards. The marker is about 20 feet
east of the wall.
The nearest adjacent survey markers are
Topsfield-Wenham
1 WM (T-W1 WM), about 0.1 mile northeast, and
Topsfield-Wenham
3 (T-W3), about 0.2 mile south.
