Muir Beach Overlook is a small park in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The site was a Army coastal observation post and there are some remains of their former presence. There is a parking lot, but no visitor center. The park's main feature is a rocky peninsula outcropping with a spectacular view of the cliffs down to the Pacific Ocean and nearby Muir Beach. The elevation is about 475 feet above sea level and the dropoffs on both sides of the knife edge trail to the final observation point are breathtaking.
