Griffin Cemetery is located in the countryside outside of Lakeland, Tn. The land the cemetery sits on was once owned by John Griffin, who deeded this land to his slave Shack Griffin, and been in the Griffin Family for 5 generations. Was once called "Bush Grove Cemetery."
There are a good many homemade tombstones in this cemetery. According to the listing on this page ( (
visit link) ) there are 108 listed burials. In walking around the cemetery it was observed that there is evidence of many burials that do not have markers of any kind.
It is on a winding country road and if you visit it you would be safer to park at the Greater Bush Grove Missionary Baptist Church at the intersection of Memphis-Arlington Rd and Canada Rd and walk back to the cemetery.
