This unnamed cascade waterfall is on a spring feeding into an unnamed waterway that ultimately empties into the Upper Palisades Lake in the Targhee National Forest (Southeast Idaho).
The easiest access to this waterfall requires a moderately strenuous 9.5 mile (one-way) hike, which takes you past the scenic Palisades lakes. These lakes were formed when landslides blocked the course of Palisades Creek and Dry Creek. The trailhead is located off US Hwy 26 between Irwin, ID and Palisades, ID. Follow the signs to the Palisades creek campground, where the Palisades Creek trailhead is located. You will follow this trail for approximately six miles, passing the Lower Palisades Lake. At that point, you will switch to the Dry Creek/Upper Palisades Lake trail. After following this trail for roughly a mile and a half, you will reach the head of the Waterfall Canyon trail. The waterfall is located about two miles up this trail. In the springtime (when the snow is melting), additional unnamed waterfalls can be seen in this canyon.
Those who would like additional spectacular views (though not of waterfalls) can continue up the Waterfall Canyon trail to the Waterfall Crest trail, and then follow the Lake Canyon trail back down to the Lower Palisades lake.
