The Claude Kennerly House at 28 Portland Place was built in 1918 for Claude S. Kennerly and Edith Kennerly. The house was designed by architect James P. Jamieson.

I was not able find out much about Claude Kennerly except that he is a descendant of two early St. Louis families, the Kennerlys and the Saugrains. Claude lived in this home for more than 50 years.
