The arboretum at Bukovina was established around 1860 by the owner of the Hrubá Skála estate, Jan Bedrich Lexa of Aerenthal with his groundsman Leopold Angr. The arboretum holds one of the oldest collections of trees and was one of the first experimental areas for growing North American trees in Central Europe. You can get a view of several dozens of exotic as well as native tree species and their cultivars, often of a respectable age. In 2005 the restoration of the summer-house, which was built in Swiss style of half-timbered brickwork in the second half of the 19th century, went ahead. It is part of cultural monument of Hrubá Skála chateau and serves as an information center of the Protected Landscape Area Bohemian Paradise.
