These farms are at the southern most part of what is now Athens Township. The river flats on the farms was once part of an Indian village known as Queen Esthers Town. This town was along the west bank of the of the river just south of the confluence. It exended for miles south along the river. As much as 5 miles of flats were inhabited. There are estimates of 70 houses being occupied in this vicinity. There is a historic marker along Rt. 220 which is on the property. It describes Queen Esthers Town. This area was also the site of the South Door of Iroquoise Long House which was located near the confluence of the two rivers. The indian settlement was destroyed on Sept. 27,1778 by Col. Thomas Hartley.
