Long Description:

The "Great Falls" of the Lamoille river have been the locus of hydro-powered industry in this valley since the 1790s. A photo (c1870) of the falls on an information panel shows a cluster of mills producing a variety of products. Hydroelectric development at this site commenced in 1904.

There are remnants of several structures (old stone walls, and what looks like an outlet culvert) from an earlier period.

There is a easy parking at both top and bottom; a fishing access and picnic area below the falls on the north side of the river (go across the truss bridge and take a left down River Road) and canoe portage access points above and below the falls.
