The Spirit of Freedom Garden where these sculptures are located is currently locked up.
The Spirit of Freedom Garden is in Fredericksburg, VA and features a self-guided tour through exhibits highlighting the slaves' struggle to be free.
The wood sculptures created from trees by West African artists, represent the slaves' former home and their ancestors watching their struggle to be free. They were donated by Sandra Taylor.
The garden stands at the site of the planned U.S. National Slavery Museum and is opened daily.
