Oldest Lutheran Theological School in America. Founded 1797 by Rev, John Christopher Hartwick. Located here 1816.
The plaque on the wall reads:
This wall was constructed during the 175th anniversary observances of the founding of Hartwick seminary as a memorial to the graduates and members of Hartwick seminary and academy.
Constructed from the bricks of the seminary annex, it stands on the site of the first Lutheran Theological School in America.
Dedicated May 7, 1972 by Pastor James Craefe, President of the Metropolitan New York Synod, Lutheran Church in American.
We visited this historical marker while our son was playing in a baseball tournament at the Cooperstown Dreams Park.
