Appropriately located in Leadville Colorado where the mining legacy is prevelant and an active part of the community......
The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum is an internationally recognized entity that pays tribute to all of those individuals ever associated with mining and industry whether present or past.
It is housed in the previous high school and offers many floors of exhibits and information.
The mineral specimens exhibit is the largest in the world and there are many interactive displays that exhibit the uses of mining in everyones life.
I especially enjoy the HO scale train exhibit that operates in a miniature mine. I visit as often as I can. As a challenge-how many miniature monkeys can you find?
The "Hall", as most locals refer to it as, also contains a large convention Ball Room that is used by community entities for Prom, Weddings, Graduations and Funerals.
The NMHF also owns and runs the famous Matchless Mine of Horace Tabor fame and fortune.
