For 28 years, the FunFest is a long week of activities, including block parties, a loonng parade, sports, kid activities, etc.
Kicks off on Friday with Mardi Gras time, including a (competitive) bead toss, in the downtown park to 20 minutes of serious, coordinated fireworks the following Saturday. One of my family's favorites is the Breakfast with Balloons during which 20 hot air balloons take off from grassy median in the early morning. (See hot air ballon festival waymark WM4P67.) And then that night getting a good spot for the fireworks which are amazing.
The cost for events range from free to paid admission to some concerts, sport activities, etc. to offset their costs.
