Emerald Bay is a California State Park. The water around the bay is also part of the park. The bay was formed as two glaciers receded. Fannette Island is in the bay. This is the only island in the lake. The bay is a little less than 2 miles long and is about 3/4 of a mile wide. The water from Eagle Falls empties into the bay.
The parking and viewing area at Inspiration Point is wheelchair friendly. Additional parking and the trail to Vikingsholm can be found at N38 57.257 W120 06.610. There is a charge to park in this lot for the day. The hike down to water level is a steep 1 mile hike. The bay can also be reached by boat.
