From East Tennessee State University (ETSU), we learn: "Shelbridge, the residence of the president of East Tennessee State University, is located on East Eleventh Avenue in Johnson City, Tennessee. Constructed about 1920 by Roswell H. Spears, a wholesale lumber dealer in Johnson City, the house was sold to Henry P. Bridges and his wife, Shelby Thomas Bridges, in 1928. The Bridges named the estate Shelbridge. Following the death of Henry P. Bridges' widow, Shelby Thomas White, Shelbridge was sold to the state of Tennessee in 1973."
The coordinates are for the locked gate entrance where the NRHP plaque is located. The main entrance to the home is on 11th Street.
