This approximately 12 foot marker honoring Unknown Union dead is located in the Pioneer Cemetery on the University of Kansas west campus.

?This cemetery pre-dates the University by several years. This obelisk was originally erected in 1906 by the Lawrence Chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic. It was repaired and rededicated in 2006 by the Sons of Union Veterans.
The plaque reads:

To the Unknown Dead
Union Soldiers
Of the Civil War
Re-dedicated by the Lawrence Sons of Union Veterans
Camp #4 November 2006
The cemetery is south of the Lied Center across Irving Hill Road. It is tucked in the trees and is easily missed if you aren't looking for it.
