The jewel of this boardwalk is at the end, near 4th street, where Gillian's Wonderland Pier can be found. This is in of itself another tourist attraction. It is a wonderful amusement park and great fun at night. The beach, yet another official attraction, is accessed form the boardwalk as well. There are dedicated benches all along this stretch of walkway against the metal railings for sitting and people watching. This is the place to get fudge, cotton candy, salt water taffy, souvenirs, pizza and all manner of fun things. Tehre are miniature golf courses, water parks and everything else imaginable.
I have many. many fond memories of this 2½ stretch of fun. I come here with my children and it is impossible to pull them away, the fun is endless! I used to live here in the late 80s, exactly one block away on 11th street on Ocean Avenue. In the winter it is utterly deserted and still fun to walk around in utter silence and watch snow silently fall on the ocean.
This is a great SITE which tells more about this very official tourist attraction. Also, as soon as you enter the island and cross the 9th street bridge, there is a welcome center directly on yoru right. They have a ton if information and brochures about the boardwalk and everything you can find on it. it is worth a visit.
When you go to the main website for ocean City found HERE, you will immediately see in the middle of the page the word ATTRACTIONS. Look to the left and click on the boardwalk link or the attractions link to find out some local information on the boardwalk.
