This is one of many granite posts used to mark points on the boundary lines between towns in this area, in this case, the Town of Hamilton and the Town of Topsfield. The markers generally are located where the town line turns at an angle, although in some cases they occur at intermediate points in long straight runs.
This marker is located in
Bradley Palmer State Park. You can get a trail map either from the web site or at the park. There are eleven boundary markers in BPSP. The adjacent markers are
Hamilton-Topsfield #02 (WM6P41), about 1/5 mile west; and
Hamilton-Topsfield #04 (WM6P4F), about 1/2 mile south. The markers in the park all have a characteristic orange paint band at or near the top.
The letter "H" (for Hamilton) and the letter "T" (for Topsfield) are on opposite sides. This marker is approximately eight inches square, and about three feet tall.
