This is the trailhead for the North and South Ponds that make up this Environmentally Significant Area, more commonly known locally as Pond Mills. This part of the ESA has two glacial kettle lakes situated on the Ingersoll Moraine, which formed approximately 13000 years ago. It also features a wide variety of wildlife. Everything from songbirds, to Turkey Vultures, Osprey, Bald Eagles, Blue Herons, and bats in the evening, which don't seem to make a dent in the local mosquito population. I've also seen Box, and Snapping Turtles, (BIG ONES!), raccoons, beavers, ducks, and geese, and the fishing isn't too bad either, with panfish, like sunfish, and bass from the shore to muskie further out. The trails are bare earth, with some woodchips, and a few boardwalks, and there is ample parking right at the trailhead. Also, there are several geocaches located within the area as well.
